Manon Courtieux
About
My name is Manon, and I’m from the Rhône-Alpes region, not far from Lyon. That’s where I did both my undergrad and master’s degrees.
As for work experience, I started with an internship at INMG in another team, and then decided to get a taste of something different, so I did a second internship in a private company. I wanted to figure out what I liked best. In the end, I realized I was more into the academic world, so I came back to the institute.
Now I’m working as a research assistant on a protein called NM1, which is a partner of SMN. I’m collaborating with my colleague Lise-Marie, and together we’re trying to figure out what role this protein plays in spinal muscular atrophy.
Outside the lab, I’m really into sports, especially basketball. I’ve been playing competitively since I was five! I also love cooking and hitting the gym, and whenever I have time off, traveling the world is my favorite way to spend it.
