Description

Abstract Despite improved in the management, patients with ischemic heart failure still suffer from high morbidity and mortality, and there is an urgent need to develop therapeutic approaches that promote recovery of cardiac function after myocardial infarction with a favorable safety profile and improved efficacy. Immune responses play important roles in the development of post-infarction adverse events, and numerous preclinical data confirm the critical role of the immune system in regulating cardiac repair and remodeling in this setting. We will discuss the development of different immunotherapy approaches targeting the lymphocyte populations to improve cardiac function after myocardial infarction.
